Where farming was in Rhys’ veins – all things horses has been in Kyra’s veins from the time that she could walk . There was never a question about horses and riding being a huge part of Kyra’s life .
Kyra was an extremely successful competitive rider from a young age and was highly skilled at eventing and show jumping. As soon as she was able, she was authorised to ride track work and whilst finishing Yr 11-12 the thought of being a jockey was becoming a real likelihood.
After completely Year 12 Kyra immediately commenced her apprenticeship and out rode her claim in under 3 years . Her apprenticeship was extremely successful and Kyra was very fortunate to be aligned with some of the best trainers and owners in the state . This resulted in her becoming the first female to win the Perth Cup in 2011 .
Kyra also travelled to work and race ride in Melbourne with prominent trainers in Flemington during 2016 .
Upon returning home she was fortunate to work at Williams Racing whilst learning and developing her skills as the first female to earn her dual Jockey/Trainer license in WA .
Kyra continues to race ride successfully whilst travelling far and wide throughout the state . Working alongside Graham she is now an integral part of the training ethos developed at Limerick Park . Her extremely high work ethic , skill and experience ensures no stone is left unturned with the individual development and requirements of every horse that enters the stables.
