Early young horse work is more about the Education and development. This process involves the development of trust with basic groundwork, application of gear, learning to lunge with equipment, long reining and then finally riding. There is a clear emphasis on acceptance of the bridle and the riders commands and aids within the round yard environment. Once there is an absolute acceptance between horse and rider then basic arena work is the next step.
Within a 4-6 week period most young horses are able to cope well with basic schooling , transition and circle work – incorporating forward and stop aids, walk, trot and canter transitions. During this time young racehorses, when ready, will visit the race track to learn and understand the process of track environment and to trot and canter around the track to absorb the activity.
We also offer foal weaning and yearling preparation services.
